What is JAJ?
JAJ stands for Just Ask Junior. It started as a joke "way back when" and I was the only tech support person at my company. Anytime anything broke someone immediately said, "just ask junior". I've use the the domain as my personal little playground for quite a while, but recently decided to refine what is available to the general public and what content is for my "userbase". The userbase consists mainly of my friends and family. There is no commercial affiliation on the site at all. There is a fully web based photo album engine that users can host their images on (more on that later). There is a web based E-mail system that may of us use as our primary email drop. There is also an extensive file storage system with detailed access rights where users can upload and download files. As a note of trivia, there are no longer any three letter domains available for registration in the .com domain. I'm glad I registered this one when I did.
Who is this Junior character?
My full name is Donald Little Jr. I've gone by many nicknames over the years (there are still a few), but much to my mother's chagrin, I acually like the nickname "Junior". My family calls me "Dee" (hey, I grew up in West Virginia) and my friends from the high school era call me "Don". I have lived in a few places around the country but the last 28 years have been in West Virginia and now Beavercreek, Ohio. I'm married to Joy Berryhill and we are the proud parents of a sweet dog Merlin, a wild dog Martini, and a fiesty cat Shtubbs. You can see more of them by checking out this photo album or this one.
What is this Photo Album thing?
The Photo Album gallery is a fully web based system for showing collections of images arranged in "Albums" for viewing online. The system is very easy to use and does not require any fancy manipulation of images before submission. You can just upload about any graphic format and it will take care of the rest. If you know me and would like to have an account which will let you have your own albums, just drop me an e-mail here.
I can't seem to find an album someone told me to look for.
If you can't locate an album that you think should be available, one of two things has happened. It might have been deleted, but more likely, you may not have permission to view the album. If the latter is the case, it will not show up until you have logged in through the menu on the left of the page.
What is Web Mail? How can I get an account?
My Web Mail is a web based e-mail system similar to Yahoo and Hotmail. It allows you to access your JAJ.com e-mail through a web interface. If you want an account just drop me an e-mail, or call my cell phone and we'll hash out the details. This service is limited primarily to my friends and family, but exceptions can be made. Once you have an account on JAJ.com, unless there is a compelling reason, it will be there for as long as I am since I will not be releasing this domain.
How can I stop the warning messages when I check my mail/webmail?
The system requires you to connect in such a way that your link to the server is "secure". All this means that the data going between your computer and the server is encrypted so that there is very little risk that anyone could "listen in" and get your password or view your mail. Part of this process is that the data being sent to you gets stamped with a "key" so that both ends of the connection are sure the data is secure. The warning message you see is your client (browser/outlook) complaining that is does not recognize the key that it is seeing. If you click on this link: JAJ Certificate, select "Open" file, then click the "Install Certificate" button and answer "Yes" to any of the questions asked, you should stop getting yelled at when you connect to JAJ.
Last but not least...
I honestly feel that the features available on JAJ.com are fairly easy to use. However, I realize that no one else is as close to the project as I am and may not agree with my design choices. If you think that something could be easier to use, or should work differently, please give me some feedback so I can work to make the system more usable for everyone.
